Klipsch KMC 3 Review

Klipsch KMC 3 is compact enough to be placed almost anywhere and robust enough to bring along to the park or to the beach. For outdoor use you just put eight D-sized batteries in, but this adds a lot of weight. The speaker has only two functions: it can stream music via Bluetooth or using an analog 3.5-mm stereo cable. A USB port allows you to charge a mobile phone or music player.

Few functions and features means easy handling. Press the Bluetooth icon on the top back touch panel to pair it with your portable music player. KMC 3 supports APTX protocol, which provides better sound quality from Bluetooth. It uses higher bandwidth and better compression. APTX requires that both the music player and loudspeaker supports it. A small remote control is included with which you can control the volume, skip between songs, and start or stop them.

It's almost insane how loud this little bad boy can go. Music simply sounds very powerful with this little speaker. Without any adjustment, electronic pop and funky rock sounds very good, with juicy rhythms and punchy bass. It also sounds clear and distinct in the treble range. With acoustic music the bass can actually be a bit too much of a good thing. But with an adjustment to the EQ settings on the music player will fix this. Then even chamber music sounds good.
